Length-weight relationships for 25 kelp forest-associated fishes of northern and central Chile.

El presente estudio informa sobre las relaciones longitud-peso para 25 especies de peces de arrecife asociadas con macroalgas pardas grandes (es decir, Lessonia trabeculata y Macrocystis pyrifera) de la costa rocosa del norte y centro de Chile (Costa del Pacífico Sudeste; 18°-33°S). El peso ajustado a la longitud presentó un promedio de exponente de 2.85, cercano al valor esperado de 3, lo que indica que la relación entre longitud y peso se acerca a un crecimiento isométrico. No se observaron variaciones latitudinales (es decir, espaciales) ni temporales en el coeficiente de crecimiento de las especies de peces estudiadas.
The present study reports length-weight relationships for 25 species of reef fishes associated with large brown macroalgae (i.e., Lessonia trabeculata and Macrocystis pyrifera) from the northern and central rocky coast of Chile (Southeast Pacific Coast; 18°-33°S). Weight scaled to length with an average power of 2.85, close to the expected value of 3, meaning that the relationship between length and weight is close to an isometric growth. No latitudinal (i.e., spatial) and temporal variations were observed on the growth coefficient of the fish species studied.
